The nine-year-old recently completed the 2012 Formula Kart Productions Florida Winter Tour with the GT7 Motorsports team on the world championship-caliber Tony Kart chassis. Taking on both the Formula Kart weekend in the Vortex TaG Cadet class and the Rotax weekend in the Micro Max category, Tavella has been impressive in his second year on the national karting scene. Two podium finishes in Micro Max, as well as a pole position, highlighted Tavella's fourth place championship campaign in the ultra-competitive series. Tavella has now turned his attention to the Northeast regional series, Pan American Challenge Series, and the US Grand Nationals in 2012.
